Steve Martin is releasing his second banjo album with The Steep Canyon Rangers on March 15th. Check out Steve’s official site for a chance to download the title track for free!
That means in a ten-day span I’ll be seeing (fingers crossed!) Pet Shop Boys, Kylie Minogue and Steve Martin. Kind of freaking out right now…
For those only just now learning of Steve Martin’s banjo skills, I present The Steve Martin Brothers LP for your listening pleasure.
The 1981 album features comedy on the first side and showcases Steve’s banjo playing on the second. If you’ve already heard The Crow then some of the songs might sound familiar, but I have to stay I’m more partial to the earlier versions.

I think this man is the reason I am still single. I doubt there’s another like him out there but he’s worth looking for…

More proof that Steve is awesome. Almost makes up for Pink Panther 2. Almost.
I’m not exactly the world’s biggest Lightspeed Champion fan (although I will give him props for covering Xanadu) but it’s nice to know that at least we’d have something to talk about if we ever got stuck in an elevator together.
The wait is over! Steve Martin’s new banjo album, The Crow, is released today.

It’s probably a good thing I set my coffee down before I watched this…
Steve Martin ironing a kitten.
TRUE FACT: Steve once had a cat named Dr. Carlton Forbes. Basically the coolest cat name ever.

Yes, that Steve Martin. Back in 1981, he released his last comedy album entitled The Steve Martin Brothers. He had kind of given up on stand-up by that point but was still obligated to do another album so he decided to showcase his banjo playing on one half of the LP.
The album always reminds me of fall at the University of Kansas as it was back in Lawrence in 2001 when I first discovered it. I was always listening to it on the way to class. Yep, probably explains a lot about me… LOL
